A New Day Cleansed by the Rain

Sometimes,
I am in awe of this beautiful world we live in

Especially on a crisp fall morning

.
When the rain has passed through

And I am compelled to take a walk,
camera in hand

Around my yard

In a hurry to see all the beauty
this new day has brought

Before the warm sun
drys the tiny droplets that confirm that the rain

Gently fell while we slept

..but also walking slowly enough

to not harm nature's littlest helpers

No frost on our pumpkins
in Southern Cali,
Have a safe and fun Halloween weekend

At it Again

I got the back yard mowed. Didn't get to the front today. Tom was sleeping and I didn't want to wake him. BUT, I did make another camera strap. Just playing with designs. I think I will have to do few more to perfect them. Here is my second attempt.
OH, I can do one for fall....
Christmas....
and so on!

Throw it Together Thursday

See this stuff?

What am I up to?

What did I do this afternoon?
Well I decided I was going to attempt a camera strap
Success!

Now, I'm off to mow the yards while the weather is nice and there is still light!

Seeyabye!

Spooky

Things are happening.
This is the week for that, as Halloween draws near.
They also say that dogs look like their owners
...or is it owners look like their dogs?
Either way...
it's spooky I tell ya!
Maybe it's the eyes?

Sunday Morning, After a Rainy Week

This morning the sky was beautiful. As I was going out to get the Sunday paper, looking east, the colors were awesome. Blue skies with fluffy white clouds colored pink by the sunrise. I could gaze skyward for hours. Too bad sunrises and sunsets happen so quickly.
As I looked to the west, this is what I saw.
It looks like the moon was a little lazy today.
It hung around to see the sunrise too.
In the back yard I saw a beautiful monarch butterfly feasting on this Purple cone flower. By the time I grabbed my camera, she was just out of the lens range.
So I switched my attention to my sweet fur-child, Daisy.
Thanks for stopping by.
We hope your day is fabulous!

Dog-gone-it, Another Birthday

Yes, it's Duncan's birthday! His family had a little birthday party to celebrate his 1st year. On the menu? Hot dogs of course...among other things. Duncan got lots of fun toys and a new bed.
He was not so sure of the cake though.

With a little help, his candle was blown out.
I wonder what he wished for?
Just like a kid, only the frosting is good enough to eat!

Happy Birthday Duncan!

Four Years Ago, Today

This woman left her broken body.

Pancreatic cancer won her over.

She fought with all her being, but the cancer was stronger than she.

She loved her family, unconditionally!

Always the giving person, her favorite book...The Giving Tree

Fitting!

Her greatest loves?
Her grand children!

This is at Dana and Kevin's wedding.......

.....and here we are at Laci and Matt's wedding.

This is my Mom with Grandma, and Auntie Rita.
All three of these women are together again.
Three women gone on to a better place, in a few short years.
Grandma 2002
Mom, 2006
Auntie Rita 2010
Today as I reflect on past memories,
I do have some comfort knowing that there is a family reunion going on for them.
I love you Mom.
You are greatly missed, all of you!

My Time with the Rogina Three

As I posted a few days ago, Laci just turned 30. For her birthday she and Matt, along with some of their good friends, went to the Bahamas! I had kid duty for the first part of the trip. It was Nana time with the Rogina three and Hurley! We had a great time playing, potty training (the boys), having lunch at In-n-Out, just to name some of our activities.

Tuesday night, as I was putting the kids to bed,
Mackenzi asked if this was my 3rd night with them....this is how our conversation went:
Z- Nana, is this night # 3?

Me- Yes Mackenzi.
Tomorrow night Grandma and Grandpa are coming over after work and you will stay with them until Friday night. Mommy and Daddy will be home then.

Z- (starting to get teary eyed) Nana, I'm going to miss you so much...(now crying!)

Me- (Calmly explaining to Z,) Mackenzi...you know I live in my house with Boppa, right?

Z- (tearfully)...yes

Me- ...and you live here, in your house with Mommy, Daddy, and your Bo Bo's right?

Z- Yes

Me- Mackenzi, I want you to know that when I visit I have to go home to Boppa and Daisy. But, I love you very much, so every time I leave I will always come back. I would never leave you forever. Also, when ever you are missing me, just ask Mommy if you can call me!

I dried her tears, promised her I would be up as soon as I picked up to sleep with her again on this last night....and all was right with my sweet little girl.

Wednesday afternoon Grandma arrived to take over. As I was saying my goodbyes to the kids, Mackenzi came to give me a hug, and started to question my leaving. I asked her...Mackenzi,
what happens when I leave? She smiled and said I have to go home, but I will always come back because I love her! She then went straight over to Grandma, snuggled up next to her, looked at me and said: I'm not going to be sad, I'm going to have more fun with Grandma anyway!
Boy, does that girl know how to work both sides or what!

Here are a few more pictures of my sweeties.

Thanks Laci and Matt for letting me have the kids all to myself for a few days!
