I stayed focused today. I got all the Christmas stuff out of the shed and into the house. The tree is even finished! I have a good start on my Christmas shopping and life is good!

Giving Thanks and Flashback Friday

This year it was Dana's turn to host Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful time with our family. Dinner was delish! Stephanie set up her studio and was taking pictures of the kids, it looked like she got some great shots. A big THANK YOU to Dana and Kevin for having us all in your home for a very nice day!
With that being said....while I was looking for FBF pictures, there were too many to choose from. So today, with the Christmas season approaching, you get several! The first picture is of me and my brothers, Tom and Mike, 1960 I think. Picture# 2 is my Mom and the girls, 1980. Picture # 3 is Dana and Laci, 1983? Picture #4 is Jerry, Dana, and Laci as Santa, early 90's. The last picture is in the mid 90's. Let the shopping begin! Merry Christmas to all!

A fall day at the park...

Is this not the cutest thing today? Sometimes they are just too cute and actually like each other. We were at a park taking pictures and got lots of good shots. I really liked this one!

Simply Stunning Sunday

Today was a great day. We were just lazy this morning. Then we decided to drive to the river for a turnaround trip.

We stopped at our favorite place for brunch.

Stopped again in Palm Desert for a little shopping. Palm Desert was in the mid 80's and oh so nice. Then drove on to the river for a VERY short visit. We wanted to check things out, make sure everything was okay there. We haven't been in 6 or more weeks, can't remember exactly how long it's been.
So, brother John's place is good..... ours is good.

The river was beautiful!
We checked the batteries, closed the slide out for the winter, just in case it rains a lot. Then we made our way back home. What a nice way to spend a lazy Sunday!

Flashback Friday

Since we were in Hawaii last week, and I didn't think to scan this before we left, it's a week late. This is an original of our wedding invitation.

Home sweet home

Vacations, little get aways, just being away from home is such a treat. What could be better? The anticipation of getting to sleep in your OWN bed with your OWN pillow! We had a great time in Maui. The island is beautiful, the water... breathtaking, quality time with my parents, and the natives, so very nice. It is really nice to be home though. Even if I am dreaming of our next trip to the island! Here are a few more pictures of our trip.

Flashback Friday

This Friday will not flash back too far. I am on the lap top and only have a handful of photos to choose from. This was taken in September at Laci's house with three of my grandsons!

ALOHA!

Whew..I have had a hard time connecting to the Internet. Tonight my dad finally got me hooked up...thanks Dad!
Saturday was kind of a lost day for us, it was travel day. We had a great flight.
Sunday we drove around a to get familiar with the area, and schedules some activities.
Today's post will be about my favorite thing....or one of them. Plants and flowers.
Everything is so lush, and I'm not referring to people! I'm not going to bore you with all the names, just pretty pictures. The colors are beautiful.

This is the view from our room.

Until the next post.....

Let the celebrating begin!

Last night our wonderful daughters and their husbands had a little dinner party for us.
They spoiled us with steak dinner, complete with baked potatoes, salad, asparagus, Northwoods salad dressing, and cheese bread.

Dessert was this super cute cake Laci made and ice cream...
Here are a few pictures from last night..

We are leaving momentarily to go to the hotel near airport to spend the night. Tomorrow morning we, accompanied by my parents, are off to Maui to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Hopefully I will be able to get online to give updates while we are gone.....ALOHA!

Flashback Friday

Ok, so this one is going way back to 1993. It was taken in a hotel just before we went to the pool. We were on our way to our Anderson family reunion in Wisconson. Oh, to have that shape again.....the big hair was a little TOO big! The girls used to call it a birds nest!

Toot Toot

Okay, I have several areas that I am going to cover this evening, I guess I'm tootin' my own horn!
As I looked out my window this morning, it dawned on me that I have a seroiusly green thumb! We'll, I really did know that already ( I love all aspects of working in the yard). This is what I saw, oh I've seen it all summer, but today I REALLY saw it.

These pictures are of orange cosmos. They are some of the seeds I planted last spring. The seed packet says they should grow to 3 feet....it's kind of hard to see, but right up near the palm tree fronds....there is orange! Seriously they are 10 feet tall!
Then there is my morning glory bush. It has taken over part of my pickett fence. It's the funniest thing, you have to move the whole plant that has grown on the gate just to open the gate.
Gate closed

Gate open

The next on my list is my daughters! I LOVE THEM, AND THE WOMEN AND MOTHERS THEY HAVE BECOME! They are my best friends! I have so much fun when I am with them...and their kids!
I am biased, hey I'm their mom, but I think they are beautiful!

Speaking of the grand kids. They were all so cute for Halloween this year.
Braeden was a Pilot.
Kelsea was a Kitty.
Mackenzi was Dorothy.
Jace was the Scarecrow.
And Quinn was the Cowardly Lion.
This is all three together.

Then there is Braeden and Kelsea together.

It has rained on and off all weekend.
It's raining and I was greeted out my front door to this!
Tonight you can really feel fall in the air. I am ready for it! Early nights, a warm cup of coffee to warm my hands, the smell of wet blacktop, watching the rain.... and hoping for thunder and lightning, homestyle foods that smell so good cooking....um, that involves COOKING! It's early in the season. I guess I'll have to cook at home for a while.
