New Features Over AT MckMama's

Yesterday was the first time I participated in MckMama's Not Me Monday. It was lots of fun. Today she has a new link system that will hopefully run better that the old system she was using. Brent Riggs is the mastermind behind MckLinky. Head on over and give it a try, it's free!

She also has a new logo

How cute is that? Click the link and read some of the other Not Me Mondays from yesterday.

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

This most certainly is NOT my first Not Me Monday, I love to play along! I did NOT stay up until 1:30 am making pretty little bows for my inventory because I do NOT sell them. I do NOT have time to sit and sew all day so I did NOT complete sewing 25, count 'em, 25 Eletents! I do NOT have a daughter that is a birthday girl today, and she is NOT 30. For heavens sake, I'm NOT that old. I did NOT win a $25 gift card to Target, and I did NOT tell Melissa to keep it and take her precious twins to spend it. No way, I love that place and would NOT ever pass up a chance to shop on someone else's dime. I did NOT go on a girls night out with my daughters. We did Not have appetizers for dinner. We did NOT have popcorn when we were Not at the movies, there's way too much fat in theater popcorn. We did NOT see My Sisters Keeper, and I did Not cry. I'm Not emotional at all. And for sure, I did NOT drop my cell phone in my porcelain throne, and if I did...there was NOT anything except water in there. I did NOT swoop in and rescue it. That would be gross!

30 Years Ago Today

..... was a Thursday, not a Sunday. I was swollen, very swollen. Nine months to be exact! I woke up to a normal Thursday, anxious for Friday to come. Yes, Friday June 29th, the due date of my very first child. Anxious to see if my intuition was correct, that I would have a daughter. I was feeling a few "twitches" that were different from the Braxton Hicks I had been having for months. Because of this, I asked Jerry to stay home feeling that possibly today was the day to have a baby. Just after noon I was starting to have contractions so we went to the Dr to be checked. (My weekly appointment was for the following day, Friday June 29th, my due date.)
It must have been a very busy day for Dr Nanni because he was in a pretty stinky mood. He practically yelled at me, said; "you are only dilated to a 1, just because tomorrow is your due date doesn't mean anything! Go home and don't call me until your contractions are 2 minutes apart, and regular for more than an hour!" Wow, way to go Dr! That's a sure way to get a very pregnant, first time mom in tears, so home we went. The day seemed to go on forever, but by midnight my back hurt so much I couldn't stand it and we went to the hospital to be checked, again.

Whoo hoo, I was at a 2 and they kept me! By 1:30 I was all checked into the hospital and in a labor room. Seriously, back labor is the pits! I labored all night long and just as it was time for my weekly Dr's appointment, at 9:34 am Dana Michelle, came into this would all sweet and girly! I had a major accomplishment too, besides having a baby, I went through labor and had no drugs, I had her completely natural! Grammy and Ryan, Grandpa, Grandma Kackie, and Uncle John were all in the waiting room, waiting to get the first peek of the newest member to join our family.
I guess I showed my Dr, this girl does have her baby on her due date!

OUCH!

This October it will be three years since my mom passed away. She had pancreatic cancer and fought a brave battle. Last year my brother Mike got a tattoo in our mom's memory. My other brother Tom (Mike's twin) decided he was also going to get a tattoo for our mom. He got his today. His has a lot more detail than Mike's does. Mike went with him and had the purple pancreatic ribbon re-done to brighten the purple up a little bit. These guys are nuts, it looks like it hurts like crazy!

Strange how things happen. Our mom survived 18 months after she was diagnosed. She passed away on my brothers, the twins, 47th birthday. Time wise she died almost in the middle of their birth times. Tom was born at 1:37 pm, Mom passed at 1:51 pm, and Mike was born at 2:00 pm, all on October 15th.

Um, there will be NO tattoo for me! Sorry Mom, can't do it!

Andrew's Day

Today was a beautiful day. The forecast called for possible showers but instead we had patchy clouds and warm weather with a slight breeze. Just enough to cool us down while sitting outside watching our grandson, Andrew, graduate from 8th grade. This picture is of one proud dad, and two proud grandpas (Jerry on the right, Ryan in the middle, and Sandy, Ryan's other dad on the left) The happy guy in the green hat? Who knows...and Mr T, behind Ryan.... a personal friend! Yeah!

Grandpa, Andrew, and Nana!
Way to go Andrew! Look out Los Al High School, here comes Andrew!
P.S. Andrew did get a hair cut yesterday!

Pointing Fingers

This morning I was doing my normal blog hopping, because I'm nosy like that to see what's going on in the blogging world. I was reading a few blogs that really touched me this morning. This one, and this one too. I love it when random acts of kindness are happening around us in this crazy time in our lives. It doesn't have to be anything that costs a fortune. Just something done by YOU that makes another happy! It truly is the little things!
Then while I was over @Don't Blink, the picture of all 9 kids sitting with their Great Grandparents AND their Grandparents....with Great Grandpa pointing to the heavens, thankful for all the LOVE in his life....well it just is the sweetest thing! That one moved me to tears!
It's been a while since I did a R A of K , time for me to step up. Also, I am so thankful for all I have in my life,my wonderful kids, and especially ALL 8 of the grand kids that call me Nana! I think I'm gonna start my own little version of finger pointing around here!

More on the Atlantis Flight

Atlantis Ferry Flight

I have been having a hard time this weekend with my Vertigo. Sunday I stayed in bed most of the day trying to will myself to feel better. You see, Atlantis was to ferry back to the Kennedy Space Center this morning at sunrise. I wanted to take Braeden to see the shuttle on the return leg from Edwards Air Force Base. He LOVES airplanes, shuttles, and fighter jets. So, Dana, Kevin, and the kids came last night to spend the night. We set the alarm for 2 AM to see how I was feeling them, and make the decision whether we would be able to go or not. Yeah, I was feeling much better! So we loaded two sleepy kids up and started our journey to the high desert. We arrived about 4:30 with plenty of time to spare for the 5:40 takeoff. We were then told that there was a delay and the takeoff was being postponed until 8:30! Wow, that's a long time to sit in the truck with 2 now wild, and very much awake children! We heard a plane about 7:45 and got all excited. As it flew over we saw it was just a plane, nothing on this ones back. Moments later we heard an even louder jet noise, but couldn't see a thing. We were worried that the shuttle had taken off on the opposite runway, and would not fly in our direction. So we called home to get Jerry to turn on the NASA channel to see if we missed the takeoff. To our excitement, the plane was on the runway! It was heading our way!!As the plane was visible on the horizon we could not believe our luck, it started banking above our heads to head east to it's Florida destination. See the fighter jet trailing the shuttle? No trip is complete unless Kitty rides along. Kitty was sitting on the very pointed nose of a fighter jet. Kitty told Braeden he was very happy to have seen a real live space shuttle.
