Our Faithful Friends, Otherwise Known as Our Fur Kids!

This is a picture of our dogs when they were about 4 months old. Today they are 8 1/2 years old.
Today has been one of those days when what was planned , gets thrown right out of the window.
Jerry and I got home from work to find our dog, Cruiser not feeling well, in fact he was very sick. He had thrown up all over his bedding and lost control of other things too. We went outside looking for him and found him very confused. He appeared to be drugged. Then we saw there was blood in his very loose stools. Something was really wrong, and we were at a loss as to what was wrong with him. His sister, Daisy was outside with him. This is something they rarely do, they prefer the comfort of the house. While I was outside with Cruiser, Jerry was starting the clean up inside. He called me in to see that there was green "stuff" in his foamy phlegm that he had thrown up. At first I thought it was just grass like many dogs eat when their tummies are not feeling well. Then I recognized the green, as seed pods on a bush I have in the back yard. I ran into the house to check the Internet to see if my Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow bush was poisonous. CRAP!!! it is! We rushed our faithful friend to the vet to see what could be done. They were very kind and attended to him right away. He had a temp of 104.1 and was very lethargic. They took him to the back to do a few procedures. The vet told us he might have seizures and they could be anywhere from mild ones to massive that would take drastic measures to stop. While we were talking to her, our sweet, and sometimes sassy, boy puppy had a massive seizure and passed away. My heart is breaking! It all happened so fast! We came home and that plant I thought was so pretty, is now in pulled out of our yard. I had no idea is was toxic! I miss my boy puppy already....and I am sad!

It is a very sad day. I can't believe it. I keep saying to myself, "I can't believe he's gone." It was so sudden and unexpected. Cruiser will be missed. I've been thinking about him tonight and remembering how sweet he was to me each time I was pregnant. It seemed that he loved to be by my side. He would cuddle up beside me like he was my "protector". Remember the picture taken on Christmas Eve beside the tree...9 months pregnant with a big ol' belly and Cruiser right there for the picture also? I'm very sad.

Jan, I am so very sad for you! I know that our pets are really family! It is so hard to lose a member of our family, especially this time of the year. My thoughts and prayers go out to you. I hope you can still find joy and happiness during this season! Know that we love you!

Dearest Jan. That pains me so much to hear that. We were there shortly after you got the puppies. They were so cute and full of energy. So quickly they become a part of our family. Any time is hard to loose a loved one, but holidays make it worse. I am sure that he is with your Mom and Grandma Ollie. Heaven would not be Heaven without our pets, so I know he is being well loved. I am sorry. I love you so much!

Jan, I am so sorry for you. That must have been a terrible experience and terrible to lose your handsome puppy. I hope you have a good Christmas remembering all the fun times I'm sure you had with your cute doggy.

This will be the first time in 8 1/2 yrs that I will be dog sitting and only have one. I miss "my" puppy boy so much. He just started sticking up for himself with puppy girl . He was always soooo happy to see me and he will be missed by all of us.

Jan, So sorry to hear such news and ESPECIALLY at Christmas time! I do hope that, like Sandie said, you can find joy in this season. These pets sure find their ways into our hearts very quickly and they are a part of us forever! My thoughts and prayers are with you (AND Miss Daisy as I'm sure she misses her brother). Love you lots!

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. I can't even imagine losing one of our dogs. I told Kyle and he was in disbelief. He remembers when they were puppies.
