The First Day of Fall
The calendar says today is the first day of fall. Today really feels like fall has arrived. I love all the earthy colors, the warm days and cool nights.
Gourds
Pumpkins
Hay stacks
After summer, I am ready for the shorter days. I enjoy cooking this time of year, more than any other season. Since today was a cloudy cool day we had good old home style meal. Tri tip roast, bakes potatoes, and vegetable medley! What did I bake to get the house smelling like fall?

Riley's Farm
Today we spent the day with Brad and Kathy, Dana and the kids at Riley's Farm. What an enjoyable day! It was about an hours drive to Oak Glen. We parked the cars, then rode the hay wagon up to the general store to purchase our "pickin' bags". The farm is quite large. There were several types of apples ripe for the pickin today. They also had pears, strawberries, & raspberries. They sold many different types of produce as well as old time toys and candies. The farm looks like it is right out of the early 1900's with all the workers dressed for that era. Dogs are roaming freely, and very friendly. There are numerous buildings that really do look like they have been there forever. After we were done picking our goods we made our way beck to the cars and had a tailgate style picnic. Dana thought of everything, and our lunch was delicious! While apples are in season, take your families out for a very nice day at Riley's Farm! Don't forget to try an apple dessert from the bakery. Delish!

Jerry's Happy Place .aka. The Garage Redo
Just so you know, a clean driveway equals a very happy ME!
This is where we used to park our motor home. We now can park both of our vehicles under the awning, behind the gate!
Ah...I love it!
Rigid, Porter Cable, Craftsman, Dewalt, Ryobi , Makita, Skil, Milwaukee are the brands of tools that have a clean new home. Finally the end is in sight! This project sure took much longer than I thought it would. We started on August 2nd. You can see the mess we had here.
I love organization!
Oh if you could see just how full all the drawers are with Craftsman tools.
With only a few flat surfaces, I wonder how long it will be before they have stuff all over them.
These closets have everything from spray paint to fishing poles and tackle inside...neat!
We bought new matching bins, no more mis-matched falling apart cardboard boxes.
All these sticky notes will be replaced with vinyl lettering labeling what is in each bin.
We are down to just a few ice chests.
Jerry just got this band saw from his cousin.
The table saw now has a place on the shelves.
So do the scroll saw, bench sander, and chop saws.
We have just a few minor things to finish up...and it's just in time to get those tools out to do some fall crafting!

Summer Delights
This summer Jerry and I have spent most of our Saturdays in Balboa cleaning Laci's in-laws beach house. The location is awesome, just steps away from the sand, surf , and Balboa pier. Most Saturdays consist of a hectic schedule of getting in just as the renters are leaving, and getting all the laundry and cleaning done before the next renters arrive. This past weekend nobody was arriving so we put off cleaning until Sunday. It was a really laid back cleaning day. It was very nice not to have to get everything done in 4 hours, before the next arrivals. I decided to go get some cleaning supplies and things the house was running low on. On my way back from shopping I saw that there were quite a few sail boats on the water, very close to the shoreline. I turned onto a street to get a closer look and this door, that is really a side yard gate, caught my eye!
I.love.this.
I noticed the boats were heading south. I quickly called Jerry to meet me in the alley so we could walk to the pier and watch them sailing to where ever home is.
Yes, I'm glad we put off for Sunday,
what is usually done on Saturday!

OH Duncan!
He is our house guest this weekend.....and he is love-able! He is a big dog, but still a puppy!
Duncan loves to play with toys!
Did I mention he is still a puppy? It's a good thing our Daisy has lots of toys to share. She will never miss a few of them.
I also think Jerry likes the kisses Duncan gives him! Look how happy Duncan makes him!
Look at that face! adorable....wait everyone is still in bed and I'm taking pictures!
Why....because Duncan TOOK OVER my side of the bed.
Not once, but TWO nights in a row!
When Duncan got dropped off, Kelsea's beloved Bearie was also left behind. Did I mention Duncan is still a puppy? Well, he was playing with Bearie and got a little too rough for a well loved almost 5 year old chenille bear.
So, hopefully Kelsea will love her Bearie with her new tummy.
...and a new bigger heart to love her little girl with!
