Flashback Friday

It's Los Angeles County Fair time again. You know it's almost fall when school has begun, and the fair is in town. There is something about the fair that keep us coming back year after year. There is so much to do and see. Back in the day, in the first week of school all students were given free tickets to attend the fair during the week. As time passed the school districts put an end to the free tickets. I think too many families were taking advantage of the free pass for the kids and keeping them home from school. Possibly the schools were losing to much money from absenteeism.

Any way, we love to look at all the exhibit halls. Eat fair food....and more fair food! The roasted corn is yummy. I have to mention Hot Dog on a Stick and their lemonade, cheesy potato chips smothered with cheese, Asian noodles, Bob's Ice Cream....and the list goes on and on. I have never liked the Fun Zone, and have passed that dislike on to my kids. About as close as we get is the giant slide. I can't seem to be able to turn this video, but, Matt is on the bottom (left of the slide), Laci and Kenzi in the middle, and Kevin and Braeden on the top.

The following picture is after the girls, kids, and I came home from the fair, September 2007. The kids were all bathed and ready for bed. This was a really sad fair year. It was the first year ever that Mom, Grammy, Grammy Gram, was not by our sides eating fair food and enjoying the atmosphere with us.


This picture was taken on September 18th of 2006. Mom was almost at the end of her battle with pancreatic cancer...but wanted fair food just the same. One bite of Hot Dog on a Stick, one sip of lemonade, and one potato chip and she was full. It was a quick visit that year, as the sun set, and the balmy day cooled , she was just too chilly to stay any longer. This was the first time we ever bought one of the pictures they take as you enter the fairgrounds....I'm so thankful we did!
