River Bound, Again!

Well folks, I am off to the river again. This time around it will be Dana, Braeden, and Kelsea keeping me company. We are going later today and staying for a few days. Hopefully the wind stays calm and the sun shines warm, not too hot. The water temp is still a little chilly so we are so glad to have the hot tub to kick back in. See ya!

Four Days into Spring!

Take a look at what Braeden and Kelsea were doing today. All I'm sayin is some kids have no feeling. Yes it was warm...but not that warm. Ah, to be a kid again, and have fun with something as simple as a running through the sprinkler, in Nana's back yard!

Update on Kitty

Most of you have met, (both Dana and I have posted about Braeden's faithful friend,) Kitty before. Kitty has many talents! Dana posted that Kitty was missing. Both Braeden and Dana have searched high and low for Kitty, he is nowhere to be found. Tonight I searched the Internet and guess what I found??? KITTY! He is a new and improved Kitty, (I think he has been at a spa or something.) He looks to be well groomed. He has had a nose job, he has new whiskers, (old Kitty had his removed by his boy years ago). His fur appears to have been conditioned. He looks like he has a new lease on life, all 9 of them! He will be arriving at my house, and very very soon Braeden, and his Mama will be reunited with the family friend! I think before Kitty goes to live with Braeden, Nana will have to take Kitty shopping for a harness and a leash! This Kitty is not going to escape so easily! It's too heart wrenching on his family!

Our Home Away From Home!

We went to our place at the river for a few days. We met my parents, brother, and my niece Cassie for a little visit. It was a really nice weekend. The weather was perfect. My parents were a little sick of the cold weather and the snow where they live, so I know they really enjoyed the warm weather. The desert is alive and green! with colorful wildflowers and blooming cactus everywhere. The ducks were being very sociable....visiting and eating crackers.
This was last nights sunset. Most of the weekend we had a really nice breeze, enough to keep it from being too hot. Today the wind really kicked up! We had a headwind almost ALL the way home. It was really blowing. We are home, but thinking of when our next trip will be!

Spring Scavenger Hunt

What a beautiful day today is! I am having a lazy day cleaning. I keep getting distracted by the beauty outside. The sky is a beautiful shade of blue, with no haze today. The temperature is warm and almost 80 degrees with an oh so slight breeze. While I was out I started taking pictures. I think I am on a personal scavenger hunt for signs of spring in and around my yard. There are lady bugs. Buzzing bees enjoying the necter from a mock orange bush, and butterflies that are too fast for me to get a good picture of.
The sparrow family is back. The birds are starting their nest for this years hatchlings.

Flowers are starting to bud everywhere.

This is my front planter. I keep purple flowers here year round in memory of my mom.

Sometimes we all need to slow down a bit, take in our surroundings, and don't forget to smell the flowers along the way!

A Need or a Want?

I saw this oh so cute wall organizer at Michaels. I really really like it...but guess what! It is a want, not a need. So I got to thinking, ... how can I make this happen? Well it just so happens that I have this piece that used to hang in my bedroom. My mom bought it for me at a craft show years ago. It has been in my shed collecting dust. Well, it now hangs in my multi purpose room (toy room/ craft room/ office). I got out my old canning jars that were also in the shed. I started putting little odds and ends like buttons, silk flowers, glitter, rhinestones...stuff for crafting in the jars. I like the finished look. It will be easier for me to find those small pieces I need for whatever craft projects I am working on, and best of all it didn't cost a dime. Now, that cute little scissor caddy...that's a different story. I might really NEED that!

Improvising...

When Kevin and Dana moved to their new home, they decided to save a little money and do their own yardwork. Kevin's brother, Greg, kindly offered his lawnmower, edger, and weed wacker because he currently has a gardener. After a few months, Kevin decided that it was time to purchase his own gardening equipment.

We joined them at Home Depot two weekends ago, with our truck, to help transport everything home. Everything made it home, the yards were mowed, and Kevin's lovin' using his new equipment. We kindly offered to take Greg and Steph's stuff back to them on our way home. On our way there Kevin called us and asked us to bring it back because Greg and Steph weren't home.

Fast forward to today... I was out babysitting while Dana was registering Braeden for Kindergarten. When she got home we were meeting Steph at her house to go shopping. I had this brilliant idea...we're going to Steph's...I don't have the truck...let's see what we can fit in the blue car. Two adults, two kids, one lawn mower with bag, one edger, a weedwacker... PRICELESS!!! Can you say WHITE TRASH???? We drove 10 mph with flashers and luckly didn't pass a soul going the back roads. Too bad--we were definitely a sight to see!!!

When the Tooth Fairy Comes

I wanted to show you what my newest little project is. Braeden has his first loose tooth. Dana talked about how she wanted to find some sort of little tooth fairy pillow for him to put it in when it falls out, for the tooth fairy, of course! So I searched the internet for some ideas. This is the one I chose to do. It was a little more involved than I thought it would be, so...I made them for all my grand kids. They will just have to be kept in a safe place waiting for future teeth to fall out. I also made a couple for gifts while I was at it. The nice thing about this design is it has a little pocket that the tooth can go into, or you can buy those mini manilla envelopes and write the child's name on it and the date the tooth was lost. Maybe even record how much the fairy left in exchange for the tooth. On one side of the pillow there is a pocket with a felt tooth on it. The other side I monogrammed the initial of whom it belongs to, that way each family member knows their pillow from their siblings pillow. A fun thing to do would be to sprinkle a tiny bit of glitter on the mini pillow leaving proof that the fairy had indeed made a visit!

Flashback Friday

This picture is almost 14 years old. It was taken at our house, on my nephew Tyler's 1st birthday. My brother (John) is holding his daughter Kaitlin. My brother (Tom) is holding his son, Tyler, the birthday boy. I was yelling for them to wait before taking this picture. If they were taking pictures with their babies, I wanted to be in the picture too, with my baby!

Wordfull Wednesday

What a fun day I had today. I started out at Laci's house. We met Dana and Stephanie at Henry's for a little produce shopping. While we were in the car, this was our conversation:
Mackenzi: Nana, look at those dark clouds, it's gonna rain!

Me: that's right Mackenzi, you are so smart!

Me: Mackenzi, if the clouds were white, what would that mean?
Mackenzi: that the sky is blue!
Wow, and she is only 2 1/2!
Then Laci, the kids, and I went to In n Out for lunch. We had a few more errands after lunch, then went back to her house for nap time!
My next stop was Dana's house. I got there just in time to snuggle with Kelseabee while she fell asleep for her nap. Braeden and Dana were in the kitchen just starting a batch of her yummy home made chocolate chip cookies. We had a really fun time making them...okay, so I only watched, and took pictures!

Tackle it Tuesday

I did it! I finished weeding my flower beds AND planted 75 packets of seeds. I am going to have a very vivid colored backyard come spring. All the seeds are Zinnias, two varieties. I planted Lilliput to the front, and giant Zinnias to the back of the planter. I can't wait. Thankfully the rain held out for today, and tomorrows rain will help start the growing process.
When the grass is a brighter green and all the Zinnias show their bold faces I will update this photo!

Nana's Wild Ride

Dana was taking this movie . Who knows what possessed her to turn it side ways. Anyone know how to turn it clockwise?

Between the squeals of laughter, this is what was said:

Boppa: What are you doing?

Braeden: I'm pushing this heavy girl down the hill!
